JULY 3 EVENING

God chose the lowly things of this world.

Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?

Jesus, … saw two brothers, … casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. He said to them, Come after me. — Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. They recognized that they had been with Jesus.

My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

You didn’t choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. — We have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves.
