JULY 4 MORNING

Leaning on Jesus’ bosom.

As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you. — They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them. He took them in his arms, and blessed them. — Jesus called his disciples to himself, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they have stayed with me now three days, and have nothing to eat. I am unwilling to send them away fasting, lest they faint on the way. — A high priest … touched with the feeling of our infirmities. — In his love and in his pity he redeemed them.

I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you. — Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you.

For the Lamb who is in the middle of the throne shepherds them, and leads them to springs of life-giving waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
