JULY 5 EVENING

Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate.

My brothers, don’t hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory with partiality. Didn’t God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him?

Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good. — Having food and clothing, we will be content with that. But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.

God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world that he might put to shame the things that are strong; and God chose the lowly things of the world and the things that are despised, and the things that don’t exist, that he might bring to nothing the things that exist, that no flesh should boast before God.

Yahweh, my heart isn’t haughty, nor my eyes lofty.
