JULY 7 EVENING
The Son of Man came to give his life as a ransom for many.
If the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctifies to the cleanness of the flesh: how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without defect to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. — I lay down my life for the sheep. No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down by myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.
The life of the flesh is in the blood. I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement by reason of the life. — Without shedding of blood there is no remission.
While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God’s wrath through him.
